Recent data point to financial pressures caused by inflation, increased costs of living, and uncertainty related to employment leading not only working but middle class to Walmart as the retailer of choice. Walmart is registering an increased number of customers and sales. At the same time, more expensive retailers and brands, tailored for middle and upper middle class, are experiencing a noticeable decline in sales (Starbucks a whooping 7%). Affordable and not fancy retailers are a safe bet these days, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
